Bridget Phillipson MP, who is the Labour Member for Houghton and Sunderland South has endorsed the Save EMA Campaign and called on the Government not to change the scheme that played a large role in her life.
Sources at the Department for Education have revealed to the Save EMA Campaign that Education Maintenance Allowances will be mention in Wednesday’s Comprehensive Spending Review, with plans to axe EMA.

How do they expect us to improve an achieve grades if we cannot afford the resources? Knowledge is the only was forward and the government is limiting the success of people from poorer backgrounds?? The gap between middle and lower class will surely increase as a result of this foolish action. Foreign aid isn’t cut but ema is surely not fair.
The government should not cut Education Maintance Allowance as many of us dont have family’s who can suuport us due to financial funding. Most people who receive EMA depend on it for busfair’s, stationary, dinners.
The government’s decision to scrap ema is an utter betrayal of all young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and reaveals the hypocrisy of the Tory government. I will be going to college next year, but if I don’t get EMA then I will seriously have to consider my future choices.
