Wealthy DJ wants EMA for his kids… Otherwise no one gets it!

Highly paid BBC radio DJ Paul Ross, brother of Jonathan Ross, whilst interviewing James Mills from Save EMA on his BBC London breakfast show, tried to defend the scrapping of EMA with a rather disingenuous defence:

“This sounds brutal, and I’ve got four children in state education and I would love them to benefit from EMA but actually cuts are happening across the board”

Yes Paul, this does sound a little bit brutal ! Apparently, our millionaire man of the people, would like his children to get EMA… but hey we all have to suffer…

The truth of the matter is Paul, if your family earned below £31,000 a year or under £21,000 a year - like the majority of those families who receive the Education Maintenance Allowance - then your kids could have actually got EMA, I wonder if that would have altered your opinion and approach to this subject…

This is just another example of the so called “common sense” talking which really is “hold what we have” mentality amongst highly paid people in the media.

The truth of the matter is that those in the media like Paul Ross, who pretend to speak like they are ordinary people are really rather detached from ordinary people’s lives…

There are almost 100,000 teenagers on EMA in London alone!
