Public Meeting in Parliament on Abolition of EMA – 11 January

In what is possibly the worst accurately reported meeting ever, we can confirm (again) our next meeting chaired by James Mills of Save EMA and a day of non-violent day of action across the country.

This month is the first in over 6 years where the government will no longer accept applications for the Education Maintenance Allowance. This means that once the academic year ends, no one will receive EMA.

There was no vote on this as it went through with the Finance Bill in the House of Commons last year in November when tuition fees (also an important issue) was dominating the spot light. Now its our turn to make people know about this pernicious cut to the poorest teenagers in this country who want to improve their lives through education.

We want to bring students, teachers, parents and politicians together to discuss what the abolition of EMA will really mean.

Come along to hear from students, College Principals and the decision makers on this vital issue.

Tuesday, January 11 · 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Committee Room 8 / 10, House of Commons

Please invite as many as your friends to come along and peacefully protest to prevent the scrapping of EMA!
